Protection at the plant’s inlet

Work performed on drinking water networks can pollute the network with sludge, so the supply line must be protected as soon as it enters the plant. Elmatec offers a wide range of filters and filter housings to limit the amount of suspended solids in the system. Elmatec can offer filter skids that are ready to be connected.

In the case of well water, the water can contain contaminants that can negatively affect downstream equipment: frequent filter replacement, fouling of reverse osmosis membranes, fouling of ion exchange resins, etc. Elmatec can help improve your water quality to secure your installation and production efforts.

Protection against bacteria and viruses

Whether at the plant inlet or as part of your process, water disinfection can be an indispensable requirement of your industrial operation. Unlike chlorination which can generate by-products, ultraviolet (UV) light is a reliable, chemical-free technology. Elmatec, authorized distributor of Aquafine-Trojan equipment, offers a wide range of UV generators that meet the exacting requirements of manufacturing facilities. For some applications, ozone can be an excellent alternative to control the bacteriological quality of water.

Production of demineralized water

Pure water is water that contains only H2O molecules. The required water quality may vary depending on your application, and a salinity tolerance may or may not be accepted. Reverse osmosis, combined with electrodeionization (EDI), makes it possible to reach the highest levels of purity, namely resistivity of 18 MΩ at 25 °C (equivalent to a conductivity of 0.055 µS/cm).

Water recycling (REUSE) and hydraulic efficiency

Environmental, economic and legislative constraints are leading manufacturers to seek new solutions to reduce their water consumption. Water recycling, also known as REUSE, is becoming increasingly important for industrial players. Reverse osmosis, nanofiltration and ultrafiltration, which are at the heart of Elmatec’s expertise, are the most technologically and economically suitable processes for process output or industrial wastewater treatment plant output.

For example, the recovery of effluent loaded with sodium sulphate and reusable for the production of ultrapure water is possible thanks to reverse osmosis two pass combined with electrodeionization.

The concentration of reverse osmosis concentrates is a very interesting area of improvement for manufacturers. What is the goal? Boost the installation’s hydraulic efficiency and thus limit water consumption and the impact on the environment.
