Many industries use steam for their processes: industrial steam boilers, thermal power plants, industrial cogeneration, incineration plants, etc.
Steam can be used in the energy sector to turn a turbine and produce electricity. It is often used as a heat transfer fluid for heating/maintaining temperature.
What quality of feedwater is required to produce which type of steam?
The required water quality is stipulated by the boiler manufacturer and mainly depends on the steam pressure and the boiler tube (flue tubes, water tube). The higher the steam pressure, the higher the required water quality. This feedwater quality is also related to chemical treatment, condensate return rate and deconcentration rate.
