Used as steam to produce electricity, boiler feedwater must be treated to reduce the risk of priming or the addition of silica in the networks. Depending on boiler pressure and temperature, demineralized water with a conductivity of less than 1 µS/cm (1 MΩ) or even less than 0.1 µS/cm (10 MΩ) may be required.
The previously filtered and softened water can be purified by reverse osmosis and electro-deionization to the desired quality.
